What sets us apart
Northwest Cascade is a leader in each of the industries in which we compete. Our continued growth and profitability results from our focus on making customers “hand spring happy”.
Our key asset is a quality employee, dedicated to teamwork and providing customers with superior value. We are confident about our future and continuously invest in people, equipment and new technology.
Our culture is dynamic and fast paced. It combines open communication, employee involvement, tremendous teamwork, and a “can do” attitude that gets results for our customers. Employees know their jobs contribute to the success of the company. In a recent employee survey, this was the highest ranking attribute. It’s no wonder that Northwest Cascade has twice been named by Washington CEO magazine as the “Best Medium Sized Company to Work for in Washington State”.
Room to Grow
As Northwest Cascade grows, so do the opportunities for personal growth. This is not just hype. We are committed to promote from within, and we provide supervisory and management training for those interested in expanding their skills. Five of our key managers started their careers on the fuel island – fueling trucks at night. Our Chief Financial Officer started as an accounting clerk. Our President’s first job was repairing Honey Buckets. How’s that for personal growth opportunities!
Good Ideas Welcome
We need ideas from all employees to keep getting better. Northwest Cascade encourages employee involvement. We get lots of input on quality, efficiency and safety issues, and constantly strive to improve results. Employees are empowered to make their own decisions on the job, keeping in mind our company Vision and Core Values.
Northwest Cascade openly shares information on monthly profits, safety trends, and recent “Good News”. Employees understand our critical success factors and take an active role in improving performance. Northwest Cascade is committed to share its success with those that made it possible.
One-third of annual net profits are distributed to employees as a performance bonus. Everyone with 1+ years of service shares in the company profits.
Employees who become supervisors or managers are offered the chance to become shareholders. The company currently has 45 owners. The value of our stock has increased each year, providing a valuable long-term incentive.
Most of our production employees belong to one of three unions – Operating Engineers, Laborers, or Teamsters. All of our collective bargaining agreements include an excellent family medical plan and a pension plan. Non- union employees also have an excellent medical plan and a generous, 401K plan.
